Impressions on Flow
Game Review on Flow
The game flow is about an aquatic sea creature bacteria like. It starts out as a small little being, and on its way to a new stage it devours other aquatic creatures to evolve. First of all, Flow doesn't really show you a 3 act structure which is a beginning, middle and an ending so it will be difficult to understand what Flow is about.
"Flow might remind you of looking at bacteria under a microscope, though the visuals are more conventionally beautiful. Organisms swim around on a 2D plane you are looking down into, with larger creatures eating the smaller ones. These fishlike beings (similar to aquatic life such as eels and jellyfish) float against a simple watery background, providing a a beautiful combination of shapes both complex and simple"https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/flow-review/1900-6415615/
The visual graphic on flow is very peaceful and effortless. The graphics of flow are so deep and intriguing, almost like you want to jump in sea and swim right to the bottom. The first checkpoint or first stage of flow looks like the shore of a beach and the further you get down to the bottom of the ocean, you find yourself (the character) evolve into beautiful complex shapes. And that somehow motivates me as an audience to keep going further down to see more abilities. The color in Flow are very blue. So it starts out light blue or aqua representing the shore or the top part of the ocean then as you lock into new stages the color shade gets darker each checkpoint. Giving you a feel of relaxation and calmness.
The sounds effect on Flow is not pumping. Call of Duty has intense man power sound where it makes you feel rebellious and fearless so when you play the game your in the zone. Flows sound is more calming like relaxing on the beach listening to music and just enjoying the sun. The music is very unique and simple and not complex, Its effect creates a soft vibe so you can enjoy the game without being frustrated or annoyed all the time.
The role of the player in Flow is to eat other small/big organisms to advance your characters appearance. And as a player your job is to eat all types of organisms to increase your ability. Or if your just a fussy player who likes to devour everything in its way then this is what you do.
What is Flow about? good question. After watching a clip and reading a review of Flow i start to get an idea of what Flow is about, so i know the aim of Flow is about a bacteria swimming around in the open sea falling deeper into progress.
"When the challenge is greater than our abilities, we become anxious and potentially dead. When the challenge is significantly less than that of which we are worthy, we become bored, and potentially dead"
http://www.jenovachen.com/flowingames/flowtheory.htmI'm going to assume that this game is about making sure the audience is potentially satisfied and not bored.
My impressions on flow was that this game was going to be soothing. I could tell by, the setting of where flow is been made. We all know that in sea we feel relaxed and stressed free and that's exactly what i feel when i'm playing the game. But at the same time, while playing Flow, it really had no point in the game, like a circle. It starts at the beginning and it goes all the way around and back to the start, then it goes around again. Maybe this game was invented not to have any sort of puzzles or strategies to keep audiences busy, or critically thinking of ways beating or overcoming obstacles, maybe it was created to give stressed out individuals a sense of relaxation and calmness from hard days work. What i have learnt from Flow is that it could relate to real life. What i mean is, Flow can compare to people and their progression in life. From being a newborn baby, and as time goes by you grow into a beautiful matured adult.
